Development and characterization of conformal piezoelectric devices for biomedical applications

Abstract

In this thesis, the principles and challenges in the development and characterization of conformal piezoelectric arrays for medical use will be discussed. A stretchable piezoelectric sensor/actuator, realized on a stretchable substrate, will be developed with materials (printed PVDF-TrFE or composite). These developments will allow to study the feasibility of using such piezoelectric components in the field of medicine and particularly in the field of cardiovascular surgery (Mitral valve).
