Abstract

The MARINS project aims to develop an innovative experimental approach to studying the interactions between irradiated gaseous atmospheres and actinide oxide surfaces. In the context of the future of nuclear energy and the evolution of fuel technologies, understanding the surface reactivity of actinide oxides under irradiation is a key challenge for better describing the mechanisms of ageing, weathering, radiolysis and chemical transformation of fuel cycle materials.
The 24-month postdoctoral position will be based in Marcoule, within a research environment dedicated to actinide chemistry and nuclear materials. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of experiments combining controlled atmospheres, irradiation, gas analysis and advanced surface characterisation, in particular using synchrotron techniques.
